April 28, 20219,

Nintendo made a successful comeback with the Switch. More than 30 million units have been sold until today. The hybrid console turned into a bestseller with the concept of ” hook it up to the TV at home and use it as a normal console” and “remove it from the base station and have a mini gaming tablet for when on the move”. Gamers who spend a lot of time commuting or traveling love the portable Nintendo Switch.

New Nintendo Switch?

Although an official announcement is pending, there are many rumors that  Nintendo will release two new versions of the successful hybrid console Switch this year. In planning would be a technically slightly improved variant and a low-priced entry-level model. Now we can read in the Wall Street Journal that Nintendo plans to launch two new switch versions later this year just in time for Christmas.

One version of the Switch should be aimed at gamers demanding a bit more power from their Switch. The other a Switch “Lite”, so to speak a cheaper version with less power than the current version Switch.

Nintendo Switch 2 – Lite version in Midyear

The Lite model of the switch is said to be a successor to the Nintendo 3DS, according to the Wall Street Journal. Nintendo has reduced the functionality of the console according to the report to the essentials, in order to realize a reasonably priced and particularly suitable version for children.

This should also be more robust than the conventional switch. A dock or the option to connect the console to the TV elsewhere is completely eliminated. To lower the cost of the “Lite version”, Nintendo has also removed the rumble function. The controllers might be fixed to the device as you know it from previous handheld consoles.

Nintendo Switch 2 – Stronger version for Xmas

The technically stronger version of the Switch might be something between the 3DS and the New 3DS. This would mean that the added power of computing power is marginal and hardly likely to play a role for most gamers. Reports mentioned 8 gigabytes (GB) of RAM, 128 GB of internal memory, and a new 4K resolution graphics unit.

First Presentation?

It still needs a bit of patience until we get to know more and what is true on all the rumors.

The new Switch models are supposed to be presented in Los Angeles at the E3 2019, which takes place in June
